Rajasthan CM Bhajan Lal Sharma Highlights Ayurveda’s Legacy at NIA Golden Jubilee

CM Sharma applauds NIA’s achievements and outlines government initiatives to promote Ayurveda, Yoga, and traditional medicine.

Jaipur: Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma participated in the Golden Jubilee celebrations of the National Institute of Ayurveda (NIA) in Jaipur, highlighting the institute’s remarkable journey from a college established in 1976 to a leading deemed university in Ayurveda today. He emphasized that Rajasthan’s hills, forests, and rich biodiversity reflect the state’s long-standing association with Ayurveda, and stated that the government is prioritizing efforts to promote Ayurveda and make it more accessible to the public.

Ayurveda’s Contribution to India’s Global Identity

The Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma said the NIA’s achievements over the past 50 years in education, training, research, and patient care bring pride to Rajasthan. He noted that Ayurveda and Yoga have significantly contributed to India’s global identity. He also highlighted the ancient wisdom of sages and scholars like Charaka, Sushruta, and Vagbhata, pointing out that Charaka Samhita emphasizes a healthy body as the foundation of life, while Sushruta is recognized worldwide as the father of surgery.

Boosting Ayurveda Research and Healthcare  :Bhajan Lal Sharma

Bhajan Lal Sharma added that Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of promoting traditional Indian medicine is giving a fresh direction to systems like Ayurveda, Yoga, Unani, Siddha, and Homeopathy, supported by the establishment of a dedicated AYUSH ministry. He highlighted global recognition for Yoga, including the UN’s declaration of June 21 as International Yoga Day. Investments in Ayurveda research have increased, and institutions are expanding.

The Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma concluded by noting ongoing initiatives to integrate Ayurveda into the mainstream healthcare system through hospital expansions, strengthened Panchakarma units, modernized dispensaries, and improved educational and research opportunities.
