Punjab CM Bhagwant Mann visits Ahmedabad, Gujarat, to strengthen AAP. Highlights education, health, UGC, SIR, and Punjab state issues.

Punjab Chief Minister and Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader Bhagwant Mann arrived in Ahmedabad, Gujarat, this evening. He was warmly welcomed by a large number of party leaders and workers, including AAP Gujarat state president Isudan Gadhvi, MLAs Gopal Italia and Chaitar Vasava, state general secretary Manoj Sorathiya, and state spokesperson Dr. Karan Barot.

Speaking to the media, CM Mann expressed his condolences over the passing of former Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar in a serious accident, praying for peace for the departed soul.

He highlighted that the AAP organization in Gujarat has become very strong, with public meetings being held in villages and regular programs taking place in major cities. “The people of Gujarat now want change. From the atmosphere we have witnessed, it is clear that Gujaratis are seeking something new. The Congress party hardly has any presence here. The spectacular victory of Gopal Italia in Visavadar with a huge margin is a very positive sign for AAP, and we will continue to work harder,” Mann said.

CM Mann also emphasized that the Delhi and Punjab models of health and education implemented by AAP under Arvind Kejriwal will be brought to every household in Gujarat.

On the SIR issue, he stated that if any political party, whether national or regional, has concerns or objections, the Election Commission itself should provide clarification. Mann added that the Commission should not impose conditions such as “apologize within 72 hours” or issue pressure directives. Instead, the process should be transparent, reliable, and satisfactory to the public. “If fake public data is being created by SIR, how will democracy survive? This is dangerous for democracy,” he warned.

Regarding UGC matters, Mann said that the commission conducts major university examinations and organizes significant academic processes. He stressed that any institution, whether academic bodies, the Election Commission, or other constitutional institutions, should be responsible for providing clear explanations and reassurance whenever objections arise.

Speaking about Punjab, CM Mann highlighted the state’s contribution to the country, particularly during the Green Revolution, when Punjab farmers supplied essential grains. However, he noted that Punjab still does not have its own capital, as Chandigarh serves as the joint capital of Punjab and Haryana. “Punjab deserves its own capital. The state also does not have its separate High Court, unlike smaller North-Eastern states, which increases case pendency and administrative burden. No state should exist without its own capital,” he stated firmly.

AAP in Gujarat continues to strengthen its organization, aiming to expand its governance model across the state.
