The UP government led by CM Yogi Adityanath plans to provide ₹5 lakh cashless medical treatment to over 8 lakh teachers and education staff. Cabinet approval expected soon.

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath is set to offer a major relief to teachers and education staff in the state. Soon, government teachers will be able to avail cashless medical treatment facilities similar to those provided to state employees. A cabinet meeting chaired by the Chief Minister is scheduled for Thursday.

The meeting will take place at 11 am at Lok Bhavan in Lucknow, where more than 29 proposals, including the Education Department’s proposal for cashless treatment, are expected to be approved. According to available information, teachers and Shiksha Mitras may receive cashless treatment coverage of up to ₹5 lakh.

This decision is expected to benefit over eight lakh teachers, Shiksha Mitras, and other education staff across the state. The proposal includes teachers from non-government aided secondary schools, self-financed secondary schools, and the basic education department, along with education friends, instructors, wardens, kitchen staff, and their dependent family members.

The Chief Minister had announced this initiative earlier on Teachers’ Day, responding to a long-standing demand for cashless healthcare facilities in the education sector. The scheme is reportedly being prepared on the lines of the Ayushman Yojana and will operate on a fully cashless basis.

In addition to this proposal, several other important matters are likely to be discussed in the cabinet meeting, including further land acquisition for the Jewar airport and the appointment of 351 motor vehicle inspectors.
