CM Pushkar Singh Dhami, reviews Uttarakhand highways with Nitin Gadkari. Key projects like Rishikesh Bypass and Almora–Danya–Panar Ghat roads underway.

According to Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami, the state is making quick progress toward a seamless, secure, and future-ready road network thanks to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership and Union Road Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari’s persistent work.

According to an official statement, Dhami made the comments after taking part in a review meeting on National Highway projects at Bharat Mandapam here, which was presided over by Gadkari.

Throughout the meeting, the chief minister brought up a number of state-specific national highway concerns and requested approval for important infrastructure projects, such as the Jyolikot–Khairna–Gairsain–Karnprayag road, the Almora–Bageshwar–Kanda–Udiyari Bend road, the Rishikesh Bypass, and the Almora–Danya–Panar Ghat road.

A 12.67-kilometer, four-lane Rishikesh Bypass has been proposed under NH-07, with an estimated cost of Rs 1,161.27 crore, officials said. A 200-meter bridge across the Chandrabhaga River, a 76-meter road-over-bridge at the railway station, and a 4.876-kilometer elevated section to safeguard three elephant paths are also part of the project. It has also been suggested to construct a separate 76-meter ROB at the Shyampur railway crossing, which would cost Rs 318 crore and guarantee continuous traffic flow.

At a cost of Rs 988 crore, a two-lane enlargement of the 76-km Almora–Danya–Panar Ghat stretch has been proposed for NH-309B. A two-lane expansion configuration is planned for the 235-kilometer Jyolikot–Khairna–Gairsain–Karnprayag road per NH-109 requirements. At a cost of Rs 1,001.99 crore, three packages of work for the 84.04-km Almora–Bageshwar–Kanda–Udiyari Bend route under NH-309A have been planned, and one part has already received forest clearance.

According to Dhami, NHAI is developing 597 km of Uttarakhand’s 3,723 km national highway network. Nearly 193 km of projects, costing more than Rs 15,890 crore, are currently under construction, while more than 336 km of projects have already been finished.

He claimed that important initiatives under the Rs 12,769-crore Char Dham Mahamarg Project had greatly enhanced economic activity, border connectivity, pilgrimage, tourism, and disaster management.

The Delhi-Dehradun Corridor is bolstering regional and global connectivity with projects such a six-lane access-controlled expressway, bypasses in Dehradun and Haridwar, and border connectivity to the Banbasa ICP.

Along with the use of ecologically friendly construction techniques in wildlife zones, the state is implementing road safety measures, such as black spot repair and contemporary safety systems.

About 90% of the civil work for the Silkyara–Polgaon tunnel is finished, and the project is expected to be finished by March 2027.

Gadkari instructed officials to make sure ongoing projects are completed on time and to quality standards, and he promised that the proposals would be addressed appropriately.
