Punjab Vigilance Bureau arrests Wildlife Block Officer Rajpal Singh for taking a ₹15,000 bribe after a complaint on CM’s anti-corruption portal.

Rajpal Singh, a block officer assigned to the Wildlife Division in the Garhshankar district of Hoshiarpur, was arrested by the Punjab Vigilance Bureau (VB) for taking a bribe of Rs. 15,000.

An official state VB spokesperson revealed this today, stating that the arrest was taken in response to a complaint submitted on the Chief Minister’s Anti Corruption Action Line webpage by a resident of Balachaur district SBS Nagar.

Additionally, he stated that the complainant claimed that he had approached accused Rajpal Singh to obtain a hunting permission, but the officer had instead demanded Rs 50,000. The settlement was reached for Rs. 15,000 upon request, and the complainant was immediately required to pay Rs. 10,000 in exchange for a guarantee that the hunting permission would be issued.

Additionally, he stated that accused Rajpal Singh went to the complainant’s home in Balachaur and unlawfully obtained Rs 5,000. The complainant’s home was equipped with a CCTV camera, which recorded the incident.

The aforementioned claims were confirmed to be accurate during the verification process. In this regard, the accused are the subject of a case filed at the VB Police Station Jalandhar range under the Prevention of Corruption Act. He said that more research was being done on this instance.
