Haryana Chief Secretary Anurag Rastogi orders all departments to promptly recover RTI fines from SPIOs, ensuring accountability and transparency in governance.
All Administrative Secretaries were instructed by Haryana Chief Secretary Sh. Anurag Rastogi to make sure that the fines levied against State Public Information Officers (SPIOs) under Section 20(1) of the Right to Information Act, 2005, be promptly recovered.
The Chief Secretary, who chaired a review meeting here today, directed that the penalties be collected directly from the relevant SPIOs in monthly installments.

Sh. Rastogi underlined that in order to guarantee accountability and openness in government, rigorous adherence to the RTI Act’s provisions is necessary. He reaffirmed that all departments must work together to respect the spirit of the Act and increase public confidence in the administration by promptly processing RTI petitions and adhering to statutory timelines.
