Haryana Education Minister Mahipal Dhanda awards universities and colleges for outstanding NEP 2020 implementation and innovation in higher education.
The “Haryana State National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 Implementation Excellence Awards” were given out by Haryana Education Minister Mahipal Dhanda today at a state-level event at the Swarna Jayanti Haryana Institute of Fiscal Management, Sector 3, Panchkula.
Speaking on the occasion, Dhanda stated that this event marks a critical turning point in Haryana’s pursuit of excellence in higher education and goes beyond a simple award ceremony. The State Government has taken decisive action to accomplish the majority of the main objectives of the National Education Policy 2020 by the end of 2025, in keeping with its unwavering determination.
He underlined that the successful implementation of NEP 2020 in the state’s universities and colleges has progressed beyond policy documents and is being realized on the ground as a result of the ongoing, coordinated, and goal-oriented efforts of the Department of Education and the Haryana State Council for Higher Education. He added that all Haryanan universities and their affiliated colleges are sincerely implementing the NEP’s main recommendations.
He emphasized that NEP 2020 offers India’s educational system a thorough, innovative, and revolutionary approach. This policy redefines the entire culture of learning, not just curricular modifications. Multidisciplinary education, skill development, innovation, research, local relevance, and quality in line with international standards are the main tenets of this policy. He clarified that the purpose of these awards was to recognize universities that, in spite of limited funding, adopted innovative practices, made student-centered choices, and showed remarkable dedication and leadership in transforming education into a field that is both socially and economically impactful and employment-oriented. The project seeks to enhance the state’s higher education system’s culture of innovation, competitive excellence, and continual development.

This ceremony, the Minister added, is a public acknowledgement of the institutions that are strong exemplars of the concept of “New Education, New India.” In order to guarantee that every young person in Haryana has the skills required for the global market by 2047, he urged all institutions and colleges to take decisive action toward accomplishing the objectives outlined in the Haryana Government’s Vision Document 2047. He called on all universities to fulfill high requirements and get ready for NAAC accreditation in order to do this. In addition to applauding the winners, he encouraged those who did not win to perform better going forward. He emphasized the need of establishing deadlines and fulfilling them within the allotted time.
He was confident that all colleges and universities would keep taking the lead in bolstering comprehensive, adaptable, excellent, and goal-oriented higher education. He also released the book series “Bharat Bouddhiks” on this occasion.
The Higher Education Council Chairman, Professor Kailash Chandra Sharma, stated that nominations were requested in light of the successful execution of NEP 2020’s main proposals. From all throughout the state, 36 nominations were received. These were transparently assessed based on predetermined standards and divided into three groups: Platinum, Gold, and Silver. He stated that sixteen awards were given out in the Silver category, ten in the Gold category, and one in the Platinum category. He went on to say that the Council has spearheaded methodical and well-coordinated efforts to implement NEP, which has led to quantifiable advancements in several important areas of Haryana’s universities.
