Punjab Vigilance Bureau caught Patwari in Hoshiarpur taking Rs. 8,000 bribe for land mutation; case filed under Prevention of Corruption Act.
In keeping with its unrelenting campaign against corruption, the Punjab Vigilance Bureau detained Ram Singh Patwari, who was stationed at Patwar Circle Badala, Tehsil Dasuya, district Hoshiarpur, for allegedly accepting a bribe of Rs. 8000 from the complainant in order to carry out the mutation of the complainant’s ancestral land located in village Badala, Tehsil Dasuya, district Hoshiarpur.
An official spokesperson for the Vigilance Bureau Punjab revealed this today. The complainant, who lives on Chintpurni Road in Hoshiarpur, stated that he filed an application at Sewa Kendra, Dasuya, for the mutation of the ancestral property located in village Badla, tehsil Dasuya, following the death of his father.
He added that the complainant was told by the accused Patwari that the official charge was Rs. 1,200. He thereafter requested an unlawful payment of Rs. 8,000 for carrying out the mutation, though. The conversation was recorded by the complainant.

The Vigilance Bureau obtained a recorded complaint statement at VB Unit Jalandhar based on the information provided by the complainant. After confirming the accusations, VB set up a trap and caught the accused in the act of collecting a bribe of Rs. 8,000 from the complainant in front of two official witnesses.
The accused has been the subject of a case filed at the Police Station Vigilance Bureau, Range Jalandhar, under the applicable provisions of the Prevention of Corruption Act. Further investigation is under progress, and the accused will be presented before a competent court tomorrow.
