Punjab Police, with central agencies, arrest two BKI-linked terror operatives in Mumbai, dealing a major blow to the terror network.

Punjab Police, in close coordination with central agencies, has successfully intercepted and apprehended two individuals, former gangsters turned terrorists, associated with the banned terrorist organization Babbar Khalsa International (BKI), immediately upon their arrival in Mumbai, stated Director General of Police (DGP) Punjab Gaurav Yadav here on Monday.

The individuals apprehended have been identified as Sajan Masih, a resident of Veroke in Gurdaspur, and Sukhdev Kumar, also known as Munish Bedi, a resident of Lahori Gate in Amritsar. Both the accused individuals possess an extensive criminal record, including numerous cases of murder, attempted murder, arms and explosives violations, and charges under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA) registered against them at various police stations in Batala and Amritsar.

DGP Gaurav Yadav stated that both of the apprehended individuals were key associates of Harvinder Singh, also known as Rinda, who is supported by the Pakistan-based ISI, and Harpreet Singh, alias Happy Passia, a detained BKI operative based in the USA. They (the detained individuals) were operating from international locations, including Dubai and Armenia, while attempting to coordinate criminal and terrorist activities in Punjab, he stated, describing it as a significant achievement of the Punjab Police.

Pertinently, as part of these ongoing efforts, Punjab Police have issued Look Out Circulars (LOC) and Red Corner Notices against various wanted criminals who have sought refuge abroad, thereby facilitating their tracking. The DGP stated that the preliminary investigation has identified the accused individuals as members of a network associated with BKI, which is responsible for multiple grenade attacks on police stations in Amritsar and Batala, as well as the murders of Hardeep Singh of Jourrian Kalan and Kiryana store owner Ravi Kumar of Dera Baba Nanak. Accused Sajan Masih was also collaborating with another principal accomplice, Shamsher Shera alias Honey, who is presently residing in Armenia, he stated.

Sharing operational details, AIG SSOC Amritsar Sukhminder Singh Mann stated that, based on specific intelligence inputs developed in close collaboration with central agencies, a joint team comprising the State Special Operation Cell (SSOC) Amritsar and Counter Intelligence, Pathankot, promptly dispatched to Mumbai and apprehended both criminals immediately upon their arrival. The AIG stated that both individuals detained were actively engaged in supplying logistical support, financial resources, and strategic guidance to their operatives operating in Punjab.

Meanwhile, both accused individuals have been taken into custody in relation to FIR No. 47 dated 25-08-2025, registered under sections 25, 29, and 30 of the Arms Act and section 61(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) at Police Station SSOC Amritsar.
