Punjab CM Bhagwant Mann directs officials to ensure security, sanitation and facilities for pilgrims during Shaheedi Sabha at Fatehgarh Sahib.

Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann directed officials to ensure comprehensive provisions to assist pilgrims during the forthcoming Shaheedi Sabha at Fatehgarh Sahib on December 25, 26, and 27.

Chairing a review meeting today, the Chief Minister stated that approximately 50 lakh devotees are anticipated to pay homage at the sacrosanct site where Sahibzada Zorawar Singh and Sahibzada Fateh Singh, along with Mata Gujri Ji, attained martyrdom. He stated that, in addition to facilitating the pilgrims, a primary emphasis should also be placed on their security and the sanitation of this sacred city. Bhagwant Singh Mann stated that the state government has already allocated funds for road repairs, and the work should be completed within a specified timeframe.

The Chief Minister stated that, considering the substantial influx of devotees, the entire district should be subdivided into sectors, each overseen by senior police and civil officials. He stated that 300 sets of mobile toilets should be deployed throughout the district, and ambulances and fire brigades should be positioned at prominent locations to assist the public. Bhagwant Singh Mann stated that 200 e-rickshaws and 200 shuttle vehicles should be allocated for complimentary transportation for the devotees visiting the city.

The Chief Minister stated that volunteers from the party and civil society should be mobilized to assist commuters and to maintain sanitation in the sacred town. He stated that over 300 CCTV cameras should be deployed at various locations throughout the city to ensure rigorous surveillance of the law and order situation within the town. Addressing another matter, Bhagwant Singh Mann also stated that twenty Aam Aadmi Clinics (AAC) should be established in the sacred city to ensure that residents have access to quality healthcare if required.

The Chief Minister also directed the district civil and police administrations to establish sufficient parking facilities in the vicinity of the town to prevent any inconvenience or harassment to the public. He also instructed the officers to deploy an adequate number of sweeping machines, sewerage cleaning equipment, super suction devices, and other necessary machinery, along with the requisite personnel, to ensure the city remains clean during the Sabha. Bhagwant Singh Mann also instructed the officers to establish a centralized Control Room encompassing all departments, equipped with a toll-free number to enable citizens to contact them in case of any necessity.

The Chief Minister unequivocally stated that this revered land serves as a source of inspiration not only for Sikhs but for humanity as a whole, as people gather here annually to pay homage to Chotta Sahibzadas and Mata Gujri on their martyrdom day. He stated that the state government will leave no stone unturned to guarantee that devotees do not encounter any form of inconvenience during the Shaheedi Sabha. Bhagwant Singh Mann stated that he will personally oversee this task to ensure its timely completion, as the martyrdom of Sahibzada Zorawar Singh and Sahibzada Fateh Singh, along with Mata Gujri Ji, on this sacred land has long served as an inspiration to Punjabis to oppose injustice, tyranny, and oppression.

The Chief Minister stated that the unparalleled sacrifice made by the young Sahibzadas at a tender age scarcely has any equivalent in world history. He stated that, as each year lakhs of devotees visit this location during the Shaheedi Sabha, the state government is undertaking a comprehensive redevelopment of this town. Bhagwant Singh Mann stated that the state government is obligated to assist pilgrims visiting this sacrosanct site, emphasizing the necessity of establishing an effective mechanism to ensure that no pilgrim encounters any difficulties during their visit.
