Punjab CM Bhagwant Mann meets Korean woman fluent in Punjabi during South Korea visit, praising her proficiency and connecting with Punjabi diaspora.

During his visit to South Korea, Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann was delightfully surprised to hear a Korean woman speak Punjabi fluently. A video of the AAP leader engaging in a conversation with the woman has garnered considerable attention on social media.

With her palms folded, the woman formally introduced herself to Mann in Punjabi. I am Simran Kaur, a daughter-in-law hailing from Punjab. She stated, I am Korean Punjabi, and my spouse is Punjabi.

Her spouse further stated, “It has been twenty years since the wedding.” It is a pleasure to meet you here in Korea.

Impressed by the woman’s proficiency, Mann inquired how she acquired her knowledge of Punjabi. She disclosed that she was instructed by her in-laws.

“It was a pleasure to meet you,” the woman concluded.

Bhagwant Mann subsequently commended the woman on Instagram. He also presented a clip capturing his fleeting engagement with her.

Our native language, Punjabi, is not merely a means of communication for us… “It constitutes our identity,” Mann wrote.

I had the privilege of meeting a couple during my visit to South Korea… He added, “It was a great pleasure to hear the mother tongue, Punjabi, spoken by a Korean-born daughter.”

This visit to South Korea was conducted as part of the state government’s outreach efforts preceding the 6th Progressive Punjab Investors’ Summit in Mohali next year.

Mann also engaged with members of the Punjabi diaspora in Seoul during his visit and urged them to promote awareness of Punjab globally. He called upon Korean enterprises to increase their investments within the country, according to reports.

Punjab’s business-friendly policies have already attracted investors, according to Mann, who emphasized the importance of collaboration to expedite industrial growth. He asserted that additional investments will promote the concept of a “Rangla Punjab” by strengthening the state’s economy and creating employment opportunities for young people.

The Chief Minister also addressed the prospects for investment, the capacity of the industrial sector, and enhancements to infrastructure. The report further stated that investments exceeding ₹1.4 lakh crore have been facilitated by the state to date.

Furthermore, Mann convened with Gourangalal Das, India’s ambassador to South Korea, to discuss Punjab’s objectives of enhancing economic and technological collaboration across sectors including manufacturing, food processing, agri-tech, renewable energy, defense, aerospace, and urban infrastructure.
