It was anticipated that the wedding of Indian cricketer Smriti Mandhana and music composer-filmmaker Palash Muchhal would be a high-profile event. Instead, when the event was abruptly canceled, it became one of the most surprising emotional turns of the year. A few weeks later, singer Palak Muchhal, Palash’s sister, made her first public remarks regarding the families’ coping mechanisms.

Pre-wedding celebrations were already taking over social media as the pair prepared to get married in Sangli, Maharashtra, on November 23. However, on the day of the wedding, both families experienced a slew of medical issues within hours, bringing the festivities to an abrupt halt.

The Ceremony Was Derailed by Health Emergencies

Due to a medical concern, Smriti Mandhana’s father, Srinivas Mandhana, was taken to the hospital early on the wedding day. Palash Muchhal was also admitted a few hours later with acidity-related problems and viral symptoms. Palak Muchhal confirmed in a brief statement that the wedding had been postponed due to the concurrent health difficulties that both families were experiencing.

Despite the fact that Palash and Srinivas Mandhana were both released soon after, there was a lot of conjecture over the couple’s future plans because there were no other official updates.

Palak discussed the emotional toll of the previous few weeks and the high public scrutiny surrounding the episode in an interview with Filmfare. “I believe that the families have experienced a really difficult period. We simply want to spread as much positive as we can and believe in it during this time. “And continue to be strong,” she said.

Both Smriti and Palash mostly stopped using social media in the days after the postponement. All posts about weddings and engagements, including the widely circulated proposal video shot at DY Patil Stadium, were removed by Smriti. Additionally, fans observed that both later added an evil eye emoji to their Instagram biographies, which sparked new rumors on the internet.

Since then, Palash has only made a few quiet public appearances. He briefly returned to the public eye when he was initially spotted at an airport. More recently, a picture of him donning a mask while visiting spiritual guru Premanand Maharaj at the Shri Hit Radha Keli Kunj ashram in Vrindavan went viral.

Reports that the ceremony would take place on December 7 momentarily reignited speculation about a new wedding date. Smriti Mandhana’s brother quickly refuted the allegations, stating that the wedding is “still on hold.”
