Minister Mohinder Bhagat unveils Punjab’s new Horticulture Technology Center to train farmers and encourage high-value horticulture crops.

Horticulture Minister Mohinder Bhagat declared on Wednesday that the Punjab Government is building a cutting-edge Horticulture Technology Center in Ladhowal, Ludhiana, which will significantly improve the horticulture industry.

The Minister announced that the forthcoming Horticulture Technology Development Center will function as a one-stop knowledge center for farmers throughout Punjab at the State-Level Seminar-cum-Exhibition held by the Department of Horticulture in Ladhowal. At the demonstration sites here, hands-on instruction will be provided together with live demonstrations of the newest high-tech growing techniques for all varieties of fruit, vegetables, and flowers. Large-scale horticultural adoption by farmers will be encouraged by the center.

Speaking to hundreds of forward-thinking farmers, Bhagat emphasized that the Punjab government, under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, is totally dedicated to helping farmers transition from the wheat-paddy cycle to high-value horticulture crops. He went on to say that horticulture alone has the capacity to provide wealth and quickly quadruple farmers’ income. This center will become the beating heart of that change, he stressed.

The Minister promised farmers full departmental support at every stage and encouraged them to diversify into horticulture without hesitation. He carefully listened to specific issues brought up by farmers and instructed authorities to address them right away. At the Ladhowal center, he also examined every stall and the future infrastructure units.

Director of Horticulture Shailinder Kaur reaffirmed that the department is prepared to provide financial support under Horticulture Mission, RKVY, and all other programs, and that it stands shoulder to shoulder with farmers. She focused especially on lowering input costs by implementing digital and precision technology.

Through a live field demonstration, Topcon Company demonstrated GPS-based Auto-Steering technology during the exhibition, emphasizing consistent seeding, spraying, and harvesting with significant time, fuel, seed, fertilizer, and pesticide savings. Instant digital soil testing and on-the-spot creation of a Soil Health Card were shown by Hygroxis Humidia Lab Pvt. Ltd. Progressive farmers around the state responded to the display in large numbers.
