Punjab Police arrest key suspect Mohan Singh in the Gurdaspur grenade attack, marking the fifth arrest as DGP Gaurav Yadav confirms major progress.

DGP Punjab Gaurav Yadav announced here on Wednesday that CI Bathinda, working with Gurdaspur Police, had arrested another important suspect in the Gurdaspur Grenade Attack Case, marking yet another significant development in the ongoing effort to make Punjab a safe and secure state in accordance with Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann’s directives. Mohan Singh, a resident of Ramuwal in Bathinda, has been identified as the apprehended suspect.

This development almost immediately followed the arrest of four suspects by Punjab Police—Prabdeep Kumar, Gurdit, Naveen Chaudhary, and Kush—in relation to a grenade attack at Gurdaspur City Police on November 25, 2025, at approximately 7:30 p.m. Two handguns and one P-86 hand grenade were found in their possession by police squads. This arrest brings the total number of people detained in this case to five.

According to the DGP, initial inquiry has shown that Mohan Singh had communication with Shehzad Bhatti, a mobster backed by the ISI and residing in Pakistan. He said that the accused participated in the grenade attack, acting on his orders, with the goal of inciting fear throughout the Punjab state. According to the DGP, the investigation is still ongoing and more leads are being sought in an effort to take down the entire network.

AIG CI Bathinda Avneet Kaur Sidhu provided operational details, stating that CI Bathinda provided the Gurdaspur Police with secret information based on both technical and human intelligence, which led to the arrest of accused Mohan Singh. In addition to recovering a black Splendor motorcycle that the module had used in the crime, SSP Gurdaspur Aditya stated that police teams had also found a.32 bore revolver and live rounds following the disclosure of apprehended culprit Mohan.

In this respect, a case FIR no. 289, dated 26/11/2025, had previously been filed at Police Station City Gurdaspur under sections 3, 4, and 5 of the Explosives Substances Act and sections 109, 324(4), and 111 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).
