Punjab Finance Minister Harpal Singh Cheema meets 47 employee unions, promising prompt resolution of issues, regularization, and coordinated action.

According to an official statement, Advocate Harpal Singh Cheema, the Punjab Finance Minister and Chairman of the Cabinet Sub-Committee established to address employee concerns, met with members of 47 distinct employee unions.

In order to voice their long-standing issues, representatives from a number of departments attended the meetings, including Education, Health, Water Supply, Power, Contract Employees, and numerous Joint Fronts.

The regularization of contractual and outsourced workers was the main topic of discussion. According to the announcement, the Minister promised the union representatives that the government will evaluate their concerns with sensitivity and within the current legislative framework.

Finance Minister Harpal Singh Cheema gave all administrative departments three crucial instructions to guarantee prompt resolution of employee-related issues:

Union Representatives’ Involvement: Before any policy recommendations pertaining to employee welfare are finalized, departments must actively involve union representatives in their development. Incorporating ground facts and avoiding future ambiguity are the goals of this step.

Department-Level Immediate Resolution: Senior officials were instructed to take immediate action on any concerns that fall under the purview of departmental-level action.

Coordination for Complex Matters: In order to guarantee prompt settlement of matters having legal or financial ramifications, departments have been directed to work closely with the Finance Department, the Department of Personnel, and the Advocate General’s Office.

Advocate Harpal Singh Cheema reiterated the cabinet subcommittee’s mandate and underlined the Punjab government, led by Bhagwant Mann, is steadfastly dedicated to the well-being of each and every worker. He continued by saying that the government aims to go beyond promises in favor of precise, practical, and time-bound answers.

The Minister gave the union leaders the assurance that the meetings’ conclusions will be converted into tangible steps to promptly address justifiable demands during the five-hour debates.

He added that the state administration is making every effort to establish a peaceful and effective workplace that is advantageous to both the state and its workers.
