Punjab CM Bhagwant Singh Mann highlights Punjabi heritage, Guru Tegh Bahadur’s teachings, and zero tolerance for crimes against women and children.

Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann rejected criticism from the opposition  reaffirming the government’s commitment to promoting Punjab’s rich history, culture, philosophy, and the sacrifices made by the respected Gurus. During a Zariya Foundation event at Punjabi University, which was hosted by actor Binnu Dhillon, tablets were given to deserving female students from public schools.Mann said that the state had disseminated Guru Tegh Bahadur’s teachings of humanism, religious tolerance, and intercommunal harmony throughout the world, citing year-long celebrations commemorating the 350th anniversary of his martyrdom. He asked Punjabis to support Punjab, Punjabi, and Punjabiat in order to strengthen cultural ties and emphasized the importance of instilling these values in the next generation.

Mann reiterated his zero tolerance policy for crimes against women and children by calling the horrific rape and death of a 14-year-old girl in Jalandhar “deeply disturbing.” In order to provide justice as soon as possible, he instructed police to file FIRs quickly, conduct investigations quickly, and expedite trials. Outrage was sparked on November 22 when the accused, Harminder Singh (46), allegedly beat the girl who was visiting his daughter.
