Punjab hosts GCC and CIS Ambassadors ahead of PPIS 2026, showcasing industrial, agri-tech, IT, and healthcare opportunities to boost international investment.

In preparation for the 6th Progressive Punjab Investors’ Summit (PPIS) 2026, the Punjab government hosted two positive and proactive diplomatic roundtables in New Delh with ambassadors from the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) and the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) nations.

Ambassadors, senior diplomats, officials from the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA), and senior officers of the Punjabi government participated in the engagements, which were presided over by Mr. Sanjeev Arora, the Hon’ble Minister for Industries & Commerce, Investment Promotion, Power & NRI Affairs. Following welcome remarks by Mr. K.K. Yadav, IAS, Administrative Secretary, Department of Investment Promotion, the “Advantage Punjab” AV presentation showcased the State’s robust industrial ecosystem, infrastructure that is ready for investment, policy reforms, and new opportunities in the fields of manufacturing, agri-tech, food processing, IT, healthcare, and agriculture.

The attendance of ambassadors from Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, and Bahrain at the GCC Roundtable demonstrated the GCC bloc’s overall willingness to strengthen commercial relations with Punjab. With its top-notch ports, strong logistics, and wide-ranging global connectivity with Africa, Europe, and the United States, the GCC region could be a significant export gateway for Punjab and India, according to the GCC envoys, who also praised Punjab’s presentation for being clear. The GCC’s economic diversification goals and Punjab’s manufacturing prowess, skilled labor force, and entrepreneurial base were found to be very complementary.

Kazakhstan, Russia, Armenia, and Belarus’ ambassadors actively participated in the CIS Roundtable and showed a great desire to cement their long-term alliances with Punjab. Noting Punjab’s robust academic institutions, cutting-edge farming methods, and thriving tourism potential, the ambassador of Kazakhstan emphasized education, tourism and culture, and trade and exports as the three main pillars of collaboration.

The Russian Federation Ambassador emphasized the great potential for growing Punjab’s agricultural trade, particularly in rice and tomato products, and pointed out areas for collaboration in the fields of railroads, petrochemicals, fintech, artificial intelligence, aerospace, banking, and financial services. He also praised Punjab’s desire to participate in the next National-Level Collaboration Forum between India and Russia.

The Armenian ambassador praised Punjab’s proactive outreach to the CIS countries and indicated interest in collaborations in the fields of agri-tech, dairy, IT services, and renewable energy. He also emphasized the value of interpersonal relationships, yearly cultural festivals, and university-level cooperation in tourism management and skill development.

Belarus’ competence in agricultural education and agri-machinery production was emphasized by the ambassador, who also commended the Punjab government for starting direct contact with the CIS. He extended an invitation to the government and business community of Punjab to take part in the June 2026 Belarusian Annual Agricultural Exhibition, which will provide a venue for technology collaborations and business-to-business contacts.

Speaking at both roundtables, Minister Sanjeev Arora emphasized the progressive changes implemented in Punjab, such as the Right to Business Act and the upgraded FastTrack Punjab single-window system, which is currently the most cutting-edge digital investor facilitation platform in India. In addition to establishing sector-specific collaborations through Invest Punjab, he urged GCC and CIS member nations to investigate Punjab as a preferred location for manufacturing and services.

Minister Sanjeev Arora formally invited the ambassadors and business delegations from GCC and CIS countries to attend PPIS 2026 and investigate investment prospects in the fields of agriculture, agri-tech, dairy, IT services, education, tourism, and the infrastructure and ecosystems of medical and healthcare.

Additionally, he reiterated the State’s commitment to providing smooth facilitation, timely clearances, and a globally competitive business climate while inviting them to tour Punjab, particularly sites of national and cultural significance.

The targeted, region-specific engagement strategy of Punjab was also appreciated by a senior official from the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA), who noted that this type of targeted outreach, which is based on mutual strengths and complementarities, significantly advances India’s broader economic diplomacy and international trade expansion.

The ambassadors from the GCC and CIS regions praised Chief Minister S. Bhagwant Mann for implementing a region-focused and structured international outreach model for the first time. They also stated their willingness to support sectoral partnerships, facilitate business delegations, and engage in frequent trade and cultural exchanges with Punjab.

Both parties agreed to continue tight cooperation and expedite plans for increased GCC and CIS involvement in the Progressive Punjab Investors’ Summit in March 2026 as the roundtables came to a successful conclusion.
