Punjab hikes sugarcane procurement price to Rs. 416 per quintal, highest in India, surpassing Haryana; move expected to benefit farmers ahead of crushing season.
The Punjab government has decided to raise the procurement price of sugarcane (Sugarcane SAP) by Rs. 15 per quintal, which is a major step towards helping farmers.
The price of sugarcane in Punjab will now be Rs. 416 a quintal, up from Rs. 401 the year before, in accordance with the revised prices.
This declaration was made by Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann during the opening of a new sugar plant in Dinanagar. The price of sugarcane for this year was recently determined by the Haryana government at Rs. 415 per quintal.

Punjab has made it clear that it intends to support its farmers more than its neighbor by setting the rate at Rs. 416, which is precisely Rs. 1 more than Haryana.
According to Chief Minister Mann, Punjab’s rate is currently the highest in the nation. Ahead of the start of the sugarcane crushing season, the announcement is seen as a good news message for farmers.
Government representatives anticipate that this price increase will increase growers’ profits and promote sugarcane production in the state.
