Punjab Police seize heroin, ICE, psychoactive pills, and cash in raids; 104 drug smugglers arrested as CM Mann’s 270-day anti-drug campaign continues.

Following the filing of 83 first information reports (FIRs) throughout the state, Punjab Police conducted raids at 358 locations on Wednesday, resulting in the arrest of 104 drug smugglers as part of the ongoing “Yudh Nashian Virudh” campaign against drugs, which Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann has been waging for the 270th day in a row to eradicate the drug menace from the state. This brings the total number of drug smugglers caught in 270 days to 38,150.

6.4 kg of heroin, 1.6 kg of ICE, 389 psychoactive pills, and Rs 6.96 lakhs in drug money were found in the custody of apprehended drug smugglers as a result of the operations.

358 raids have been carried out around the state by more than 120 police teams, which consist of more than 1000 police officers, overseen by 76 gazetted officers. Over the course of the daylong investigation, police teams have also inspected up to 376 questionable individuals.

The Punjab Police have persuaded 39 individuals to receive de-addiction and rehabilitation treatment today as part of the state government’s three-pronged effort to eradicate narcotics from the state: Enforcement, Drug Abuse, and Prevention (EDP).
