CM Yogi Adityanath honors Guru Tegh Bahadur on his 350th martyrdom anniversary, highlighting Sikh sacrifices and Ram Mandir flag-hoisting in Ayodhya.

While honoring Guru Tegh Bahadur, the ninth Sikh Guru, on his 350th martyrdom anniversary in Lucknow on Tuesday, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath stated that generations of Sikh Gurus gave their lives in defense of the kesariya (saffron) flag.

The saffron flag of India’s “sanatan” was raised atop the Ram temple today following the completion of building at the magnificent temple of Lord Ram at Ram Janmabhoomi (in Ayodhya). The Sikh gurus and their generations gave their lives to raise this saffron flag on the top of the Ram temple in Ayodhya, according to Adityanath. Hours after attending the flag-hoisting ceremony at the Ram temple in Ayodhya, he made these statements.

The first Sikh Guru, Guru Nanak Dev Ji Maharaj, visited the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi temple in Ayodhya Dham between 1510 and 1515. A foreign invader’s soldier named Babur destroyed the shrine in 1528.

Adityanath stated, “Guru Nanak Dev Ji Maharaj had vehemently opposed Babur’s actions at that time after witnessing his atrocities.”

He added that the Sikh Gurus, Sikh warriors, Nihangs, saints, monarchs, simple people, mothers, and sisters never hesitated to give their lives in the fight for Ram Janmabhoomi in Ayodhya.

He went on to say that despite shifting rulers, aastha, or religion, had persisted for 500 years.

Speaking to a sizable crowd at the state capital honoring Guru Tegh Bahadur and the martyrs Bhai Mati Das, Bhai Sati Das, and Bhai Dayala, he declared, “Ayodhya demonstrates that devotion is stronger than any empire.”

The chief minister claimed that the state’s year-round Guru-themed events demonstrated the appreciation of the “25 crore people of Uttar Pradesh.”

Speaking about the momentous occasions that culminated in the martyrdom of Guru Tegh Bahadur, the chief minister reminded that during the Mughal Empire, the Guru spoke out against religious persecution.

He went into great detail on the cruelty that the Guru’s associates, Bhai Mati Das, Bhai Sati Das, and Bhai Dayala, had to endure.

He asserted that Guru Tegh Bahadur refused to compromise and that he chose martyrdom in order to defend human dignity and religion.

Adityanath emphasized the unmatched legacy of Guru Gobind Singh and claimed that these sacrifices “prepared future generations to stand against tyranny.”

He questioned, “Where in the world do we see a leader who was himself the father of four martyrs and the son of a martyr?”

The chief minister emphasized how Prime Minister Modi’s 2020 declaration of December 26 as Veer Bal Diwas honored the memories of Guru Gobind Singh’s four sons, known as Sahibzadas. “Today, the nation’s consciousness will never forget their sacrifice,” he declared.

Adityanath mentioned the historical ties to Lucknow, stating that the Gurudwara in Yahiyaganj upholds the tradition of Guru Tegh Bahadur’s visit to the city. He declared, “Our government is dedicated to beautifying and restoring these sacred memories.”

In his closing remarks, he urged everyone to respect the Guru tradition.

He declared, “Truth cannot be destroyed.” “We must work for society, the nation, and our civilization with the same fervor that we uphold our kesariya flag,” he continued.
