Punjab Assembly held a historic session honoring Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji’s 350th martyrdom, with Harjot Singh Bains presenting a heartfelt resolution.

The 350th Martyrdom Day of Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur Sahib Ji was celebrated with a historic and solemn special session of the Punjab Legislative Assembly. An official resolution to honor the Ninth Guru Sahib Ji’s unmatched and supreme sacrifice for the rights and religious freedom of all people was tabled by Punjab Education, Information, and Public Relations Minister Harjot Singh Bains.

The Punjab Vidhan Sabha unanimously approved the measure. He also mentioned the three faithful Sikhs of Guru Sahib, Bhai Mati Das, Bhai Sati Das, and Bhai Dayala Ji, during his speech in the House. He explained the Guru’s martyrdom’s deep and lasting national importance.

Bains stated in a heartfelt speech that the sacrifice made by Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji influenced India’s secular foundation. Had Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur Sahib Ji not sacrificed his life to defend religion and faith, our country’s very geography and secular fabric might have been different. The Guru Sahib Ji acted as a resolute barrier against the prevailing religious oppression. Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur ji served as a shield for our Hindu brothers and sisters when their religious freedom was seriously threatened. There has never been a more admirable example of interfaith tolerance and moral bravery in global history.

Speaking from a place of personal and historical regard for the holy country, Bains represents the Sri Anandpur Sahib constituency. “The Guru Sahib started his last journey to Delhi from this holy ground of Anandpur Sahib, which Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji himself bought and established, dubbing it ‘Chak Nanaki’ after his beloved mother. Here, the Kashmir Pandits presented their request for justice to the Guru Sahib.

“It is on this very soil that Bhai Jaita (Baba Jiwan Singh) brought the “Sis” of Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji with utmost devotion, and where the Tenth Guru, Sri Guru Gobind Singh Ji, embraced him, declaring, ‘Rangretay Guru ke Betay,'” he continued, emphasizing the unmatched devotion displayed on this land. You have brought our sun, and you have brought our father’s head.

According to Bains, who detailed the Punjab Government’s extensive preparations for commemorative events to mark the 350th Martyrdom Day, a dedicated committee was established to make sure these commemorations are held with the scale and dignity they deserve, all under the direct supervision of Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann. A special session of the Punjab Legislative Assembly, four Nagar Kirtans, the Sarb Dharm Sammelan, a Light & Sound Show, a Drone Show, and educational activities honoring the life and teachings of the Guru Sahib were among the carefully organized festivities organized by the Punjab government.

He went into detail about the infrastructure, which included eco-friendly e-rickshaw shuttle services, a large three-tent city, efficient parking, a website and mobile application just for Sangat visiting Sri Anandpur Sahib, and more. “We have made sure that Sri Anandpur Sahib is ready to honor the Guru Sahib’s heritage from the ground up.

“We are not counting the cost; we are fulfilling our duty,” Bains said, urging everyone to participate in this momentous occasion. Remembering Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji’s timeless message of standing for justice, truth, and everyone’s right to freely practice their faith is essential to genuinely honoring His sacrifice. This ritual serves as a reaffirmation of the fundamental principles that characterize Punjab and India.
