Aman Arora inaugurates a new NDA preparatory hostel at Mai Bhago AFPI Mohali, boosting training and opportunities for Punjab’s young women in the Armed Forces.

Punjab Employment Generation, Skill Development and Training Minister Aman Arora opened a special housing block for the NDA Preparatory Wing at the Mai Bhago Armed Forces Preparatory Institute (AFPI) for Girls, SAS Nagar (Mohali), on Friday, in a significant step toward empowering the state’s young women by allowing them to enlist in the Indian Armed Forces. Sam Manekshaw, the first Field Marshal of the Indian Army and a native of Amritsar, Punjab, is honored by the facility’s name. It demonstrates the commitment of the Punjab government, led by Chief Minister S. Bhagwant Singh Mann, to enabling the state’s young, particularly women, to serve the country.

According to Aman Arora, this state-of-the-art hostel, which costs Rs. 2.46 crore, is intended to serve as a comprehensive residential and training facility with contemporary amenities, such as an indoor shooting range, cyber lab, and first-rate fitness centers. It offers 40 female cadets who are getting ready for the NDA the perfect setting. In addition to providing a comprehensive ecosystem for their growth as future commissioned officers, it would establish a focused and encouraging environment for their preparations.

The state government, led by CM Mann, started the NDA Preparatory Wing at the Institute in July 2023, and girls who want to become commissioned officers in the Defense Services have responded overwhelmingly to it, he said, assuring the Institute Administration of the state government’s full support.

In the meantime, the Employment Generation Minister congratulated Lady Cadets who passed the NDA written exam and those who were suggested for commission. One such Lady Cadet was Sehjaldeep Kaur, who made history by receiving the highest score of any girl in the SSB interview conducted throughout India. As Mai Bhago’s bravery motivates Punjab’s women to put on the uniform and guide the country forward, a new chapter begins.

“We are providing a launchpad for our daughters’ dreams to soar high,” said Aman Arora, speaking to the female cadets. The government of CM Mann is dedicated to breaking through all glass ceilings. This wing is evidence of our conviction that Punjabi ladies are unmatched and destined to take the lead in the armed forces.
