CM Bhagwant Mann allocates ₹71 crore for 142 towns and villages to honor Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji’s 350th martyrdom anniversary.
Punjab CM Bhagwant Mann gave out checks totaling Rs 71 crore for the development of 142 towns and villages in the state that were blessed by the divine presence of the Ninth Guru, Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji, as part of the celebrations for the 350th anniversary of his martyrdom.
The Chief Minister described this as a modest attempt by the Punjab government, saying that while these efforts pale in comparison to the Guru ji’s ultimate sacrifice, life, and philosophy, they still demonstrate the government’s dedication to duty, respect, and devotion. He went on to say that these grants will be used to modernize these villages and towns by strengthening their basic infrastructure, enhancing services for devotees, beautifying the roads leading to holy locations, and carrying out necessary development projects.
This endeavor, according to Bhagwant Singh Mann, is a historic move in preserving the Guru ji’s hallowed sites, disseminating his teachings, and improving amenities for followers.Sarpanches, council members, and other elected officials from towns and villages in the Malwa, Doaba, and Majha areas received checks from the chief minister.

He stated that it is a historic occasion for everyone to commemorate the 350th anniversary of the martyrdom of the Ninth Sikh Guru, who gave the ultimate sacrifice for the defense of humanity. People are privileged to be able to observe and take part in such holy happenings, and Bhagwant Singh Mann expressed thankfulness for this.

Asserting that no detail would be overlooked in this admirable endeavor, the Chief Minister said that the Almighty had lavished the Punjab Government with His blessings, enabling it to participate in these holy endeavors. He emphasized that the Punjab Government is dedicated to celebrating this holy anniversary with great dedication and asked people to follow the path of truth and compassion as demonstrated by Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji. According to Bhagwant Singh Mann, the Guru’s timeless teachings on humanity, peace, love, and togetherness are still very applicable in today’s national and international environment.
The Chief Minister urged people to attend the festivities that would take place at Sri Anandpur Sahib from November 23 to 25, stating that the state government has made all the required preparations for the convenience of guests. He declared that the Nagar Kirtans had already started in Srinagar and would soon spread to the Punjabi cities of Faridkot, Gurdaspur, and Talwandi Sabo, covering almost the whole state. A lot of devotees are taking part in these Nagar Kirtans with great devotion, Bhagwant Singh Mann said, urging them to join and seek the blessings of the Almighty.
According to the Chief Minister, ambulances, digital museums, langar arrangements, and other necessary facilities accompany the nagar kirtans in order to guarantee their well-being. He explained that after departing Srinagar on November 19, the Nagar Kirtan would go through Jammu, Pathankot, Dasuya, Hoshiarpur, Mahilpur, and Garhshankar before arriving at Sri Anandpur Sahib, which was blessed by the Ninth Guru, on November 22. According to Bhagwant Singh Mann, three additional Nagar Kirtans would arrive at Anandpur Sahib on November 22 after departing from Takht Sri Damdama Sahib (Talwandi Sabo), Faridkot, and Gurdaspur on November 20.
According to the Chief Minister, these anniversary celebrations started on October 25 with a spectacular Kirtan Darbar at Gurdwara Sri Rakab Ganj Sahib and Ardas at Delhi’s Gurdwara Sis Ganj Sahib. According to him, light and sound performances portraying Guru Ji’s life and ideas were staged in every district of Punjab from November 1 to November 18. Bhagwant Singh Mann declared that Sri Anandpur Sahib will host major festivities from November 23 to 25, including the creation of a “Tent City” known as “Chakk Nanaki” that would accommodate thousands of pilgrims.
According to the Chief Minister, an interfaith conference and exhibitions showcasing the life and teachings of the Guru Ji will take place on the same day. He stated that a special meeting of the Punjab Legislative Assembly will be held in Sri Anandpur Sahib on November 24. During this meeting, notable individuals will present the life, philosophy, and unmatched sacrifice of Guru Ji for human rights and religious freedom. During this historic session in the holy city, historic resolutions will be passed, according to Bhagwant Singh Mann.
According to the Chief Minister, blood donation camps at the state level, a significant tree planting campaign by the Forest Department, and a lavish “Sarbat da Bhala – Oneness” event involving notable figures will all take place on November 25. He went on to say that saints and spiritual leaders from all around the world had been consulted and asked to take part in these festivities. The Punjab government is honored to host such important events during its time, according to Bhagwant Singh Mann, who also invited participants from both India and overseas.
The Chief Minister responded to those who have been criticizing the government’s efforts by saying that while all political parties customarily celebrate these anniversaries, some groups are intentionally opposing this occasion. Claiming that the Akalis were hypocritical for questioning the government’s devotion after they had already lost the public’s trust, he denounced them for regularly exploiting religion as a cover for political failures. While his government is commemorating the centenaries of the Sikh Gurus with fervor and sincerity, opponents are plotting against it, according to Bhagwant Singh Mann, who recalled that all prior governments had done the same.
According to the Chief Minister, “the Akalis are not refraining from playing politics even on this sacred occasion of Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji’s martyrdom.” He predicted that in the days ahead, these self-centered leaders will make frantic efforts to point out flaws, but our commitment and sincerity will not allow them to win. Sukhbir Singh Badal acknowledged before the Akal Takht that the Shiromani Akali Dal government had previously used funds from the Shiromani Committee for marketing to hide its shortcomings, according to Bhagwant Singh Mann.
The Chief Minister previously launched 38 development projects totaling Rs 7.57 crore in 17 Dhuri constituency villages. Additionally present on this occasion were Cabinet Ministers Varinder Kumar Goyal, Dr. Balbir Singh, Aman Arora, Harpal Singh Cheema, and Hardeep Singh Mundian.
