The actress acknowledges that her family provided opportunities early in her career, but she is adamant that skill, reliability, and public acceptance—not a last name—are the only factors that determine longevity in Bollywood.

Kareena reaffirmed her position on nepotism in a recent interview with Barkha Dutt for We The Women, saying, “Nepotism can get you a debut, not a life-long career.” Your destiny is determined by the audience’s acceptance, not by your last name.

The actress emphasized that maintaining a career demands much more than familial advantage and that the industry is more competitive than ever.

Aadar Jain, Kareena’s cousin, also spoke candidly about the ongoing controversy in an interview with ETimes.

“People talk about nepotism, but I haven’t benefited from it,” he remarked. Although I am cousins to Kareena and Ranbir Kapoor and the grandson of Raj Kapoor, that does not grant me the opportunity to star in fifty movies annually or consistently land endorsement deals and brand collaborations. Unfortunately, I haven’t benefited from nepotism in that sense.
