Dr. Baljit Kaur: Cabinet Approves ₹53 Crore for Distribution of Sanitary Pads to Needy Women and Girls

The State Cabinet has approved a number of important decisions pertaining to the Department of Social Security, Women, and Child Development, which is a major step in improving social welfare services in Punjab. Cabinet Minister Dr. Baljit Kaur shared this information and thanked Chief Minister S. Bhagwant Singh Mann and the entire Cabinet, saying that these choices will significantly help the poor and vulnerable segments of society.

The Cabinet has authorized the appointment of 16 Child Development Project Officers (CDPOs), according to Dr. Baljit Kaur. According to her, this will greatly enhance the oversight and execution of the many social programs for women and children that are managed by the federal and state governments. These programs will be implemented more successfully at the local level once these positions are filled.

In this regard, Dr. Baljit Kaur went on to say that the process of filling the 19 CDPO positions that were previously open was already under way. The PPSC will now be used to fill a total of 35 CDPO positions after the Cabinet approved 16 additional positions. According to her, this will significantly improve the effectiveness and operation of child development programs throughout the state.

The Cabinet has made a significant decision to provide the Department of Social Security complete authority to create and modify regulations pertaining to transgender issues for the benefit of the transgender community. According to Dr. Baljit Kaur, this will make it possible to adopt policies for the transgender population in a more timely, compassionate, and efficient manner.

The Cabinet has granted ₹53 crore to distribute sanitary pads through Anganwadi Workers, with a focus on the health needs of disadvantaged women and girls. According to Dr. Baljit Kaur, this effort will significantly improve menstrual awareness, hygiene, and health for thousands of women and girls in Punjab.
