On the anniversary of his martyrdom, Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann presented flowers to the legendary freedom fighter Shaheed Kartar Singh Sarabha and unveiled development projects totaling Rs 45.84 crore to completely transform his hometown.

As a tribute to the victim, the Chief Minister declared at the state-level event that Sarabha village would receive development projects costing Rs 45 crore 84 lakh to provide clean drinking water, sports facilities, defense training, and other amenities. The state government will do everything in its power to make the village where this great hero was born a model village, he added, adding that this would be a worthy memorial to the victim. Bhagwant Singh Mann also honored the companions of Shaheed Kartar Singh Sarabha, Vishnu Ganesh Pingle, Bakhshish Singh, Jagat Singh, Surein Singh (Senior), Shaheed Harnam Singh Sialkoti, and Surein Singh (Junior), who were also put to death on the same day.

The Chief Minister claimed that Shaheed Kartar Singh Sarabha, who gave his life at the young age of 19, was one of India’s youngest revolutionaries. He claimed that even at such a young age, generations are still motivated by Kartar Singh Sarabha’s selfless contribution to the country. The young martyr, Bhagwant Singh Mann said, was instrumental in the nation’s liberation from foreign domination.
Shaheed Kartar Singh Sarbha, an ardent leader of the Ghadar Party, devoted his life to promoting India’s independence, first outside and later domestically, according to the chief minister. “My government is fully committed to realizing the dreams of the martyrs,” Bhagwant Singh Mann stated after taking the oath of office as Chief Minister in Khatkar Kalan, Shaheed Bhagat Singh’s ancestral village. The 350th Martyrdom Day of Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji is being marked with commemoration ceremonies at Sri Anandpur Sahib from November 23 to 25. He encouraged Punjabis to attend these events.
“The Punjab Government is organizing light and sound shows, Nagar Kirtans, drone shows, Kirtan Darbars, and other programs on this historic occasion to ensure that the life and teachings of Guru Sahib reach every household,” the Chief Minister stated. All Punjabis are privileged to be able to witness this momentous occasion, he continued, and he encouraged everyone to take part in these celebrations. A previous visit by Bhagwant Singh Mann included a floral homage to Shaheed Kartar Singh Sarabha at his ancestral house.
The Chief Minister announced plans to upgrade the current two-lane road from Lalto Kalan to Sarabha, Raikot, and Halwara to four lanes, costing Rs 40 crore. According to him, Halwara Airport will have a direct connection to this route. It will also cost Rs 2 crore 82 lakh to build a surface water supply system, Rs 2 crore to build a 10-meter indoor shooting range with a target safety setup, Rs 10 lakh to renovate the basketball court, and Rs 3 lakh to build a volleyball court and six concrete benches at the sports complex. Bhagwant Singh Mann added that Rs 89 lakh would be used to upgrade the Forest Nursery with contemporary technology and that a training academy for police and security personnel would be established. The academy would include a decommissioned MiG-21 aircraft from the Air Force Academy for training pilots and drones.
