Punjab Vigilance Bureau arrests DDPO Jalandhar Reader Rajwant Kaur for allegedly taking a ₹50,000 bribe in the Dhadda village Dharamshala case; probe underway.
Rajwant Kaur, Reader to DDPO Jalandhar, was taken into custody by the Punjab Vigilance Bureau (VB) as part of its continuing campaign against corruption. A complainant from the hamlet of Dhadda in the district of Jalandhar was asked to pay her Rs 50,000.
A VB representative revealed this, stating that an investigation was carried out into a complaint that the Sarpanch of the hamlet of Dhadda had filed. After the inquiry revealed that the Balmik Committee had seized the Dharamshala built in the village of Dhadda, the Gram Panchayat brought a lawsuit before the DDPO in Jalandhar.
The investigation revealed that Rajwant Kaur, who was still assigned as the DDPO Jalandhar’s Reader at the time, had asked the complainant for a payment of Rs. 50,000 in order to obtain a favorable ruling in the Dharamshala case. The plaintiff and other witnesses paid her a bribe of Rs. 50,000. The money-receiving incident was captured on camera.
In light of the inquiry and supporting documentation, a case has been filed against Rajwant Kaur in Vigilance Bureau Range Police Station Jalandhar under the applicable sections, and an investigation is currently under progress.
