Punjab Vigilance Bureau arrests ASI Ragwinder Prasad in Moga after he was caught red-handed accepting a ₹5,000 bribe. Case registered; investigation underway.

As part of the Punjab Vigilance Bureau ‘s (VB) continuous campaign against corruption, arrested ASI At the police station in the Ise Khan district of Moga, Ragwinder Prasad is assigned. A complainant from the tehsil Malout district, Sri Muktsar Sahib, caught him red-handed taking a bribe of Rs 5000.

A representative for VB revealed that a complaint had been filed against the complainant’s family members at Kot Ise Khan police station, and that ASI Ragwinder Prasad, the investigating officer, had asked for a bribe of Rs. 20,000 to assist him in this case. On November 6, 2025, the accused ASI called him on WhatsApp and instructed him to go to the Judicial Complex in Moga, where he accepted a Rs. 5,000 bribe.

A VB team from SAS Nagar set up a trap based on the complainant’s information, caught ASI Ragwinder Prasad red-handed, and accepted a bribe of Rs 5000 from the complainant in front of two official witnesses.

At the VB Police Station in SAS Nagar, a case has been filed against the accused under the applicable provisions of the Prevention of Corruption Act. According to the spokeswoman, additional investigation is being conducted and the accused will be presented in a competent court tomorrow.
