Punjab SC Commission Chairman Jasvir Singh Garhi meets Governor Gulab Chand Kataria to discuss welfare, education, and empowerment of Scheduled Castes.

Jasvir Singh Garhi, the chairman of the Punjab State Commission for Scheduled Castes, paid Punjab Governor Sh. Gulab Chand Kataria a visit at Raj Bhawan.

Alongside Commission Members Sh. Gurpreet Singh Ittanwali, Gulzar Singh Bobby, and Rupinder Singh Sheetal, the Chairman had in-depth discussions on issues pertaining to the socioeconomic advancement, empowerment, and welfare of the Scheduled Castes in the state of Punjab.

Jasvir Singh Garhi told the governor at the meeting that 32% of Punjab’s population was classified as Scheduled Caste according to the 2011 Census. He added that the current population percentage of Scheduled Castes in the state has increased to around 38% in 2025, with an average growth rate of 26% observed between 2001 and 2011.

The Chairman went into great detail about the community’s problems and asked the Governor for advice and assistance in order to guarantee that welfare programs, educational programs, and job possibilities for young people from Scheduled Castes are implemented more successfully.

Gulab Chand Kataria praised the Commission’s efforts and emphasized the necessity of improving Raj Bhawan-Commission coordination in order to advance social justice and equality.
