Punjab Education Minister Harjot Singh Bains launches a new school module to teach Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji’s values and legacy across all schools in the state.

The Punjab Education Minister, Harjot Singh Bains, introduced a mandatory education module in all schools, including government, private, and assisted schools affiliated with all Education Boards, from nursery to class 12th, to instill values of justice, truth, and righteousness in students as part of the 350th Martyrdom Anniversary commemorations of Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur Sahib Ji.

Bains shared Ninth Guru Sahib Ji’s teachings, life, and unmatched sacrifice with students at two schools in the Rupnagar area today: Government High School in Dasgran and Mount Carmel School in Jindwari. In order to inspire pupils and reaffirm the significance of the Guru Sahib’s legacy, he urged all Deputy Commissioners (DCs) and other top officials to do the same.

Bains told the audience that the education module was created by the Punjab School Education Board and approved by the SGPC. In addition to hosting special lectures, poetry recitations, speech competitions, essay writing, and the distribution of historical books, the education module, which will run until November 30, 2025 (excluding holidays), includes a 10- to 12-minute morning assembly segment on the life, martyrdom, and founding of Khalsa Panth of Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji. It also aims to instill the values of the Ninth Guru Sahib Ji in the minds of young people.

According to S. Harjot Singh Bains, the program goes beyond teaching history and focuses on developing young people’s character and instilling strong human values. He also emphasized that Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji’s sacrifice is a beacon of humanity and interfaith solidarity that transcends communities and that it is imperative that the next generation comprehend and carry on the legacy of bravery and sacrifice.

The Education Minister also urged teachers to impart Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur Sahib’s teachings with passion and devotion, adding that the objective is to cultivate a way of thinking that shapes pupils into responsible and compassionate citizens.
