India beat Australia 2-1 in the T20I series after rain washed out the final in Brisbane. Shubman Gill and Abhishek Sharma gave India a fiery start.

After a major weather delay forced the cancellation of the decisive match in Brisbane, India defeated Australia 2-1 in the T20I series. Only three of the five games that the two teams were scheduled to play in this series could be completed, with the Men in Blue emerging victorious in Hobart and Gold Coast.

Only the MCG match was won by Australia.

IND vs. AUS: The Gabba T20 Match Was Canceled

The Men in Blue were batting in the first innings of the much-anticipated fifth and final Twenty20 International between Australia and India at The Gabba in Brisbane when the inclement weather disrupted the match.

Heavy showers were predicted for the day even before play began, and the game was stopped by inclement weather after only 4.5 overs.

As the rain got worse, players had to leave the field.

India reached the 50-run milestone in just 4.5 overs thanks to an early assault on the Australian attack by openers Shubman Gill and Abhishek Sharma.

Abhishek Sharma had put up 23 runs off 13 deliveries at the time of the pause, while Gill was undefeated at 29 off 16 balls with six boundaries. Like in the first T20 encounter in this series, the rain returned to ruin the momentum after the pair’s explosive start suggested a high-scoring match.

And like that game, this one also had to be canceled.

In addition, Rinku Singh was scheduled to make his series debut, replacing Tilak Varma in the lineup. He was unable to take on the field, though.

What Does India’s Future Hold?

Next week, India will return home to begin a two-match Test series against South Africa.

Following this tour to Australia, they will play them in three One Day Internationals (ODI) and then five Twenty20 Internationals.
