Punjab Police arrest two operatives, seize 2.815 kg of ICE meth linked to Pakistan smugglers, as part of CM Bhagwant Mann’s drug-free Punjab campaign.

Amritsar Commissionerate Police have arrested two key operatives and seized 2.815 kg of methamphetamine, also known as ICE, from two drug supply modules connected to Pakistan-based smugglers in an intelligence-led operation that is part of the ongoing effort to make Punjab a drug-free state as directed by Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, DGP Punjab Gaurav Yadav said.

The people who were taken into custody are Baljit Singh, a resident of Guru Nanakpura in Amritsar, and Gursevak Singh, also known as Sevak, a native of the village of Gharyala in Tarn Taran. According to the DGP, the first investigation showed that the accused used virtual numbers to communicate with handlers headquartered in Pakistan in order to arrange the collection and delivery of drug shipments within Punjab. In order to allay suspicions, the accused frequently chose delivery locations close to places of worship. According to the DGP, more research is being done to determine forward and backward links in this instance.

According to Commissioner of Police (CP) Amritsar Gurpreet Singh Bhullar, who shared operational data, in the first instance, the police established a checkpoint close to Dana Mandi in Amritsar in response to certain intelligence reports. 40 grams of methamphetamine (ICE) were found in the custody of accused Gursevak Singh, also known as Sevak, who was arrested during the operation.

He claimed that a follow-up surgery resulted in the seizure of an extra 1.96 kg of ICE substance based on his statement. According to the CP, arrested accused Gursevak, a border region resident, was personally picking up and distributing shipments as instructed by his handler and maintained constant touch via virtual communication platforms with a Pakistani smuggler.

Police teams acting on credible information set up a roadblock outside Ryan International School on Vallah Bypass Road in Amritsar and detained suspect Baljit Singh after finding 45 grams of ICE drug in his possession, according to CP Gurpreet Bhullar, who also described another operation. Based on his disclosure, an additional 770 grams of ICE were recovered, he added.

According to him, further research is being done to find cross-border handlers, track supply lines, and break up the whole distribution chain that connects networks in Punjab and Pakistan. Two distinct cases have been filed in this regard: FIR No. 306 dated 06-11-2025 at Police Station Gate Hakima, Amritsar, under section 21(B) of the NDPS Act, and FIR No. 240 dated 27-10-2025 at Police Station Maqboolpura, Amritsar, under sections 21(B) and 21(C) of the NDPS Act.
