Haryana Transport Minister Anil Vij announced the addition of 5 AC electric buses in Ambala, boosting total e-buses to 15. New bus shelters also coming to improve commuter comfort.

Haryana Transport Minister Anil Vij stated  that adding five additional air-conditioned electric buses (e-buses) to Ambala’s public transportation system will make it even more environmentally friendly. The acquisition of this bus brings the total number of e-buses in Ambala to 15. This is another big step toward making urban transportation more comfortable and environmentally friendly.

Vij noted that the Ambala Roadways Depot will shortly start using these new AC e-buses on a number of local routes. He also said that these buses would give passengers a comfortable, easy, and environmentally friendly way to travel.

23 new bus line shelters are being built right now.

Vij claimed that 23 new modern bus waiting shelters are being built along Ambala’s local lines to make things easier for passengers. There will be seats, lighting, and fans in each shelter to make sure that people are comfortable as they wait for buses.

He claimed that the goal of the project is to make sure that people don’t have to wait uncomfortably for local buses anymore. The shelters are being built in important places like Capital Chowk, Chungi Chowk, Tundla, Defence Colony, Kalrahedi, Shastri Colony, the DRM Office, Sundar Nagar, Chandpuri Colony, Machonda, Shahpur, the Civil Hospital (Ambala Cantt), Subhash Park, the BD Floor Mill, the Hathi Khana Mandir, Rangia Mandi Chowk, Nanheda, SD College, Mahesh Nagar, Tangri Bandh Road, Babyal, Dalipgarh, and Boh.

Thanks to Vij’s work, the local bus service is back after 25 years.

Anil Vij, the Transport Minister, worked hard to bring back Ambala’s local bus service after almost 25 years. Ten mini-buses were used to start the service again on November 1 of last year. Then, on Republic Day (January 26), five AC electric buses were added. Five more were added on World Environment Day (June 5, 2025). Today, five more e-buses were added, bringing the total number of electric AC buses running on municipal routes to 15.
