Punjab Govt’s Project JIWANJYOT & 2.0 rescued 704 children from begging and trafficking, providing education, health, and safe, dignified lives.

The Punjab Government’s main projects, Project JIWANJYOT and Project JIWANJYOT 2.0 , have saved 704 children from the clutches of child begging. Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann and Social Security, Women and Child Development Minister Dr. Baljit Kaur are leading the way. The goal of these programs is to make sure that every kid in the state has a safe, secure, and dignified life. The project is a great example of how the Punjab Government is working to make child protection systems stronger.

Dr. Baljit Kaur went on to say that Project JIWANJYOT, which has been going on in Punjab since July 2024, focuses on district administrations running monthly rescue drives during the second week of every month. The children who were rescued are being helped to get better through several welfare programs, depending on their age, whether they are eligible, and whether they have the right papers.

Dr. Baljit Kaur added that the State Government started Project JIWANJYOT 2.0 to stop human trafficking and organized begging rings. This shows how strongly the government is against exploitation. DNA testing are being done to make sure that the rescued youngsters are related to the people who are with them as part of this program. If the DNA findings don’t match, FIRs are filed and the people who did it are punished severely.

Of the 704 children that were saved, 269 are now in school, 15 are in Anganwadi centers, 43 are getting help through the Sponsorship Scheme, and 15 are getting help through health services.

Dr. Baljit Kaur noted, “Every child deserves a safe and dignified childhood,” when she talked about the project. The Punjab Government is not only saving kids from being used, but also making sure they get an education, medical care, and a bright future through Project JIWANJYOT.

She said again that the Punjab Government is entirely committed to defending every child’s right to education, health, and dignity, and making sure that all children in the state have a safe, respected, and begging-free childhood.

Dr. Baljit Kaur asked the people to call the Child Helpline at 1098 right away if they witness a child begging. This way, the child can be saved and given a safe childhood. Let’s all work together to make Punjab a state where no child has to beg for money and every child has a safe, secure, and dignified upbringing.
