Delhi AQI worsens as smog hides India Gate; AAP and Congress accuse BJP of hiding true pollution levels and demand immediate action.

The AAP (Aam Aadmi Party) and the Congress both criticized the government again as the air quality in Delhi, which has been in the “poor” to “very poor” range for days, got worse.

The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) posted a picture of the India Gate in the Capital, which was hardly visible through the pollution. They declared the famous building had “disappeared.”

Saurabh Bharadwaj, a leader of the AAP, told reporters in Delhi that most apps on people’s phones were getting information from the government’s air quality monitoring stations.

Most apps that show you the AQI on your phone get their information from the AQI monitoring stations run by the Delhi and central governments. The Weather app on the iPhone only gets information from government monitoring stations like the DPCC, CPCB, and IMD. Bharadwaj remarked, “Only some apps have their own monitoring stations, like the US embassy.”

Aaditya Thackeray, the leader of the Shiv Sena (UBT), has called the pollution in Delhi “worrisome.” “It’s much more worrying that people are trying to hide the genuine AQI statistics. What is the challenge that the Union and State Government have to deal with in order to get everyone to agree on climate action? Thackeray asked in a post on X.

AAP says Changing AQI data

Bharadwaj was spotted outside an AQI monitoring station in Delhi in a video that was released on X. The footage showed what the ex-minister of Delhi stated were trucks owned by the Municipal Corporation of Delhi.

Bharadwaj said that the trucks were spraying water “day and night around” the pollution monitoring station.

“Water is being sprayed around the Pollution Monitoring Centre at ISBT day and night so that the machines show lower AQI readings and false data can be shown to the world,” AAP claimed on X.

Priyanka Gandhi thinks that pollution in Delhi is “like a grey shroud.”

Priyanka Gandhi, a Congress leader and MP from Wayanad, asked Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta to do something about the problems in the Capital on Sunday.

“Coming back to the Delhi air from Wayanad first, then Bachwara in Bihar is really shocking.” Priyanka said on X, “The pollution around this city is like a grey shroud thrown over it.”

The Wayanad MP told all political leaders to “get together regardless of our political compulsions.” He also said that they would all “support and cooperate” with whatever the Centre and state governments decide to do.

In the meantime, Jairam Ramesh, the Congress general secretary in charge of communications, brought attention to the report from the Center for Atmospheric Sciences at IIT Delhi. He stated the analysis “makes it clear that winter cloud seeding will not help improve the horrible air quality in Delhi in any significant way.” He also said that the trials cost ₹34 crore.

People are angry on social media about the Delhi marathon.

People on social media were angry when they saw videos of a marathon and fitness rally being planned in Delhi, even though the air quality in the city has gotten worse.

“Delhi is the first city in the world to hold a fitness bike rally in AQI 500+.” “Even worse, people are actually taking part!” one of the users wrote.

“When the AQI is above 500, who puts on events like this in Delhi?” “Stay inside when you need to wear a mask. Don’t do any hard work outside. There are marathons and bike races going on!” advised another.
