Punjab Finance Minister Harpal Singh Cheema announces major education reforms under CM Bhagwant Mann’s Sikhya Kranti program to upgrade schools and empower teachers.

The state’s education system is undergoing a significant transformation, according to Punjab Finance Minister Advocate Harpal Singh Cheema. This change is being driven by the government’s Sikhya Kranti program, which is a comprehensive infrastructure upgrade program led by Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann. It is also being supported by initiatives to strengthen the teaching force and address long-standing issues.

These statements were made by Finance Minister Cheema on Thursday after a lengthy conversation with members of seven unions in the education department. Among the unions were the Computer Adhiyapak Union, Computer Adhiyapak Sangharsh Committee, Unemployed B. Ed. TET Pass Adhiyapak Union, ETT TET Pass Adhiyapak Union (Sunil Fazilka), ETT TET Pass Adhiyapak Union (Jai Singh Wala), and Special Cadre Adhiyapak Front. The Minister thoroughly examined their requests and urged the union members to continue their commitment to raising the caliber of instruction in public schools.

Anindita Mitra, the secretary of education, informed the finance minister that the majority of the unions’ demands had either reached a final level or were being processed at the moment. In addition, she promised that additional valid demands would soon be met. The Education Department was instructed by Finance Minister Cheema to communicate the financial obligations related to the valid claims with the Finance Department in order to expedite the decision-making process.

In a separate meeting, Finance Minister Cheema assured the All Punjab DST/CTF Contract Workers Union that their concerns will be settled in a cooperative manner. Special Secretary (Personnel) Upkar Singh and Special Secretary (Finance) Ajay Arora addressed the Finance Minister on the demands made by the respective unions and the departmental status of their respective departments during these sessions.

Members of the union, such as Jony Singla, Nardeep Sharma, Gurwinder Singh, Rakhi Manan, and Harpreet Singh from the Computer Adhiyapak Union; Veerpal Kaur Sidhana, Manpreet Singh Moga, and Paramjit Kaur Pakhowal from the Special Cadre Adhiyapak Front Concerns were brought up during the meeting by Sunit Sareen from the Computer Adhiyapak Sangharsh Committee, Jaswant Ghubaya, Hardeep Singh, and Sandeep Singh from the Berojgar B. Ed. TET Pass Adhiyapak Union; Sunil Kumar, Salwinder Singh, and Ranjit Singh from the ETT TET Pass Adhiyapak Union (Sunil Fazilka); Kamal Thakur, Sohan Singh, and Gurmukh Singh from the ETT TET Pass Adhiyapak Union (Jai Singh Wala); and Sandeep Singh, Kirandeep Singh, and Pardeep Singh from the All Punjab DST/CTF Contract Workers Union.
