CM Pushkar Singh Dhami inaugurates MP Sports Festival in Uttarakhand, promoting local talent, new sports facilities, and athlete development programs.
The “MP Sports Festival” was officially opened by Chief Minister Shri Pushkar Singh Dhami on Monday at Rajiv Gandhi Navodaya Vidyalaya in Tapovan. “The MP Sports Festival is being held nationwide as a major initiative to identify and promote sports talent from villages to the national level, inspired by Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi,” the Chief Minister added. There are three distinct stages to the celebration in Uttarakhand. This competition aims to promote local, traditional, and folk sports while spreading the theme of “Fit India – Sports India – Strong India” throughout every community.

According to the Chief Minister, India is achieving unprecedented success in sports and forging a robust international identity under the Prime Minister’s direction. In Uttarakhand, the State Government is constantly working to foster a thriving sports culture. Uttarakhand athletes made history by taking home 103 medals at the 38th National Games, which were held in the state. They also brought immense pride to the state.

In terms of top-notch sporting facilities, Uttarakhand is currently regarded as one of the nation’s top states. The Sports Legacy Plan calls for the establishment of 23 sports academies in the state’s eight largest cities. Each year, these academies will offer 1,000 additional athletes and 920 elite athletes top-notch training.
The Chief Minister went on to say that work is moving quickly to create a women’s sports college in Lohaghat and Uttarakhand’s first sports university in Haldwani. In order to support athletes in the state and guarantee the general growth of sports, a new sports policy has also been put into place. National and international medal winners are receiving government posts that are out of their turn. Young athletes in the state are being supported and encouraged by initiatives like the Chief Minister Sports Development Fund, Chief Minister Player Incentive Scheme, Chief Minister Emerging Player Scheme, and Sports Kit Distribution Scheme.
The Chief Minister added that in order to recognize athletes’ accomplishments, prizes such as the Himalaya Khel Ratna and Uttarakhand Khel Ratna are given out. In order to provide adequate opportunities and acknowledge the skill and hard work of athletes, the 4% sports quota in government services has also been restored.
Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi’s vision of a developed India by 2047 is rapidly being realized, according to Rajya Sabha MP Shri Naresh Bansal. To foster children’s talents, a number of events are being planned, such as Fit India and the MP Sports Festival. India is currently doing exceptionally well on the international sports scene, he continued. During this event, he declared that Rajiv Gandhi Navodaya Vidyalaya in Tapovan will receive funding from his MP Local Area Development Scheme to build badminton and volleyball courts. Additionally, he promised to use his MP money to provide funding for the school’s mess’s furniture arrangements.
