Mai Bhago College of Nursing hosts first rehearsal for Tarn Taran bye-election; 1,200 poll workers trained on EVMs and VVPATs under supervision of Punjab Joint CEO.

Mai Bhago College of Nursing, Piddi (Tarn Taran) hosted the first rehearsal for poll workers assigned to election tasks in anticipation of the November 11 bye-election for the 021-Tarn Taran Assembly Constituency.

Sakatar Singh Bal, PCS, the Punjab Joint Chief Electoral Officer, paid a special visit to the location to study the setup and see the training. Returning Officer/SDM Gurmeet Singh and other officials were with him.

Master Trainers trained around 1,200 poll workers on how to operate EVMs, VVPATs, and Control Units throughout the session, as well as the full polling-day process. Presiding Officers (PROs) also participated in a simulated drill in which they cast at least five votes for each candidate, including NOTA, for a total of about 100 pretend votes to show how the EVMs and VVPATs work. The PROs stated that they were completely confident in the machines’ dependability and openness.

All officers and employees entrusted with election tasks must carry out their duties with the highest honesty, dedication, and diligence, Sakatar Singh Bal stressed in his speech to the polling crew. He said that even a small mistake cannot be allowed in the election process and asked all members to fully comprehend every facet of the polling procedure to guarantee seamless and error-free conduct on election day.

Returning Officer Gurmeet Singh advised that on November 2, poll workers will have their next practice. According to him, all the preparations required to guarantee a free, fair, and peaceful bye-election in Tarn Taran have been made by the district administration. He also urged all of the constituency’s electors to exercise their right to vote freely and without coercion or inducement.
