Pratika Rawal suffers ankle fracture ahead of India vs Australia World Cup semifinal. Richa Ghosh’s fitness uncertain as India reshuffles lineup.

Mumbai : The injury to starter Pratika Rawal has handed a serious setback to Team India ahead of their World Cup semi-final match against Australia on Thursday, October 30. She suffered an ankle injury during fielding during Sunday’s (October 26) match against Bangladesh, which was India’s last league stage appearance.

The match was impacted by rain and ended without a result after Rawal stumbled and fell awkwardly while fielding close to the boundary ropes. When Rawal fell, the team’s support personnel helped him off the field while he was writhing in agony. India’s innings was opened by Amanjot Kaur and Smriti Mandhana, and she did not bat or return to the field for the remainder of the innings.

 Following the game, the 25-year-old opener had scans and was said to have suffered a fracture. In addition, Pratika Rawal is expected to see a separate physician to discuss her official reports. The cricketer, who smashed a match-winning century in the crucial encounter against New Zealand, must be devastated to have lost the opportunity to make an impact in the semifinal match against Australia.

India is concerned about Richa Ghosh’s health as well.

The wicketkeeper-batter was sidelined against Bangladesh as a precaution after being struck on the finger during the match against New Zealand. But as of now, there is no word on whether Richa will recover in time for Thursday’s crucial match in Navi Mumbai.

In her place, Uma Chetry made her debut for India against Bangladesh. Since Pratika is also sidelined, India will need to add another player to their lineup. Who will open for Mandhana in the game versus Australia is also still up in the air.
