Minister Arora said the Punjab government fulfilled its promise by providing record flood compensation within 30 days, ahead of Diwali.

The AAP state president and Punjab cabinet minister Arora ,gave ₹66 lakh in compensation to around 80 people who had been impacted by the floods in Rampur Kalan in Banur sub-tehsil and Sarsini in Dera Bassi tehsil of Mohali district. The minister claimed that Dera Bassi will earn a total of ₹4.5 crore in compensation.

Minister Arora spoke to the crowd and stated that the Punjab government had kept its commitment to help flood victims before Diwali by giving them the most amount of money ever in just 30 days. He also said that 13 cabinet ministers in Punjab are giving money to people who were affected by the floods at the same time through “Mission Punarvaas” (rehabilitation).

Minister Arora said that three days ago, chief minister (CM) Bhagwant Mann started “Mission Punarvaas” in Ajnala. There, he gave checks worth ₹5.7 crore to 631 farmers, which was the start of the mission.

He also said that farmers are being paid ₹20,000 per acre for the first time in the country, and that previous governments “only made empty promises in the name of compensation.”

Minister Arora said that Punjab, the state that feeds the country and maintains its borders, has not received any real help from the Center in the guise of disaster assistance. He said that the ₹805 crore that was supposed to go to Punjab out of the announced ₹1,600 crore was really part of money that was already set aside for the state via the State Disaster Funds, PMAY, and National Highway Funds.

MLA Rajpura, Nina Mittal, and MLA Dera Bassi Kuljit Singh Randhawa thanked the CM and stated that the government has kept its commitment to the people by bringing hope and light back into houses that had been darkened by floods, even before Diwali.

Deputy Commissioner (DC) Komal Mittal spoke at the event and said that letters of approval for compensation worth ₹66 lakh have been sent out today. The money would be transferred into the bank accounts of the people who are owed it by the end of the day.
