Delhi :  Snapchat is undergoing a significant update to its Memories function, which has been free for users since the platform’s 2016 inception and lets users save vanishing images and videos. However, the business has recently acknowledged that users who store more than 5GB of content in Memories would eventually have to purchase a plan in order to keep retaining and accessing older content.

“When we first launched Memories, we never expected it to grow to what it has become today,” Snapchat stated in an official statement. We are launching new Memories Storage Plans to assist our community in keeping all of their memories for a long time.

Snapchat’s latest “Memories Storage Plans”

Snapchat+ and Snapchat Platinum subscription tiers include the new premium storage options. The following worldwide plans are currently available to users:

• Plan for 100GB: USD 1.99/month (about Rs 165)
• The monthly cost of the Snapchat+ 250GB plan is USD 3.99 (about Rs 330).
• Up to 5TB of storage is available with the Snapchat Platinum plan (price varies by region).

Although pricing for India has not yet been disclosed, these plans are anticipated to shortly be implemented globally.

12-month window for upgrading or backing up

Snapchat has promised to provide temporary storage for a year to those who use more than the free 5GB limit. They have two options during this time: download their saved Snaps or upgrade to a premium membership to keep access.
