Kejriwal’s Punjab Visit Focuses on Development and Youth Empowerment
Chandigarh : Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) National Convenor Arvind Kejriwal began his two-day visit to Punjab on Tuesday, accompanied by Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann. The visit will see the two leaders launch a series of major developmental initiatives aimed at transforming the state’s power infrastructure, promoting youth sports, and fostering entrepreneurship.
The itinerary reflects AAP’s strategy to strengthen its governance footprint in Punjab through high-impact public welfare projects. Over the two days, Kejriwal will attend events in Jalandhar, Bathinda, and Chandigarh, underlining the party’s focus on infrastructure and innovation-led growth.
Power Boost for Punjab: ₹5,000-Crore Projects in Jalandhar
The first day of the visit is dedicated to Punjab’s power sector. In Jalandhar, Kejriwal will inaugurate a set of power transmission and distribution projects worth ₹5,000 crore. These projects are expected to improve electricity reliability and strengthen the state’s transmission network.
The initiative aligns with the AAP government’s promise to ensure affordable and uninterrupted power supply for both domestic and industrial consumers. “These power projects mark a major step towards a more efficient and sustainable energy future for Punjab,” said a senior official from the state’s power department.
Later in the day, Kejriwal and Mann will attend the ‘One India 2025 National Cultural Festival’ at Lovely Professional University (LPU) as chief guests. The event celebrates India’s cultural diversity and aims to promote unity through art, music, and youth engagement.
At the festival, the AAP leadership is expected to highlight the state’s growing emphasis on education, cultural exchange, and youth empowerment — themes central to the government’s development narrative.
Bathinda to Get 3,100 Modern Playgrounds
On the second day of the visit, Kejriwal and CM Mann will travel to Bathinda, where they will launch a massive sports infrastructure initiative. Mann will lay the foundation stone for 3,100 new world-class playgrounds across Punjab, with an overall investment of ₹1,184 crore.
The project seeks to provide modern and safe sporting facilities for children and young athletes, encouraging physical fitness and talent development at the grassroots level.
“Punjab has always been known for its sporting spirit. These playgrounds will help nurture the next generation of athletes and promote a healthy lifestyle among students,” said an official from the Department of Sports and Youth Services.
The playgrounds will feature modern amenities, including track fields, indoor courts, and fitness zones, ensuring accessibility for rural and urban communities alike.
Entrepreneurship Mindset Course to Empower Youth
Later in the afternoon, Kejriwal and Mann will return to Chandigarh to jointly launch the Entrepreneurship Mindset Course. This initiative is designed to instill innovation, creativity, and business acumen among Punjab’s youth.
The course aims to equip students and young entrepreneurs with practical knowledge about startups, idea development, and financial literacy. The AAP government plans to integrate the course into school and college curricula, fostering a generation of self-reliant, job-creating citizens.
“Punjab’s youth have immense potential. With the right guidance, they can become job creators instead of job seekers,” Kejriwal said in a statement ahead of his visit. The course reflects the AAP’s broader mission to make Punjab a hub for startups and innovation-driven employment.
