Police stopped Samajwadi Party leader Mata Prasad Pandey and his group from traveling to violence-hit Bareilly, with officers stationed outside his home for security.

The Samajwadi Party delegation, headed by Mata Prasad Pandey, the politician of the Opposition in the UP Assembly and a senior SP politician, was supposed to visit Bareilly on Saturday, but the Lucknow government prevented them from doing so. Police have been stationed outside Pandey’s capital city home.

After Friday prayers, a group of more than 2,000 people gathered outside a mosque in the Kotwali area to protest the cancellation of a planned protest over the ‘I Love Muhammad’ poster row. On September 26, violent clashes broke out in Bareilly when the crowd resorted to stone-pelting police officers.

In anticipation of the 14 Samajwadi Party MPs and MLAs who were scheduled to visit Bareilly, a large police presence was stationed outside the home of the Leader of the Opposition in the Uttar Pradesh Assembly in Lucknow.

“You have to stay at home, the SHO informed me even before I left for Bareilly, and the District Magistrate remarked that I would ruin the atmosphere if I went. “The administration is not allowing us to go there to cover up its own shortcomings, so we don’t want to ruin any atmosphere,” the UP LoP stated.

“They’re stopping us from going. This was no riot among the community. Because they have grown biased, the police have destroyed the law and order situation. If there had been conflict between two communities, I would have thought something significant would have happened. We asked the police, but they didn’t have any definitive answers,” he continued.

There is an SP MP under house arrest.

However, in Sambhal, police has been stationed outside SP MP Ziaur Rahman Barq’s home from two police stations, Nakhasa and Raisatti. Outside the MP’s home, there are police officers. They have put the SP MP under home arrest.

Law Enforcement Prevents MP Chandrashekhar Azad from Traveling to Bareilly

Lok Sabha MP Chandrashekhar Azad was stopped by the Saharanpur police from visiting Bareilly to speak with the relatives of those killed in the violence. According to Saharanpur Additional SP (Rural) Sagar Jain, Azad arrived at his residence in Harijan Colony, Chhutmalpur, late Wednesday night. The police reportedly requested him not to travel to Bareilly. Sources said that upon receiving information about the Azad Samaj Party (Kanshi Ram) chief’s arrival, a strong police contingent was deployed overnight around his residence, and barricades were put up, effectively confining him indoors.
