After 22 years, Bihar’s Special Intensive Revision (SIR) process is complete as the Election Commission releases the final updated electoral roll.

New Delhi:  The Special Intensive Revision (SIR) procedure, which has not been carried out in the state for 22 years, was completed on Tuesday when the Election Commission of India released the final electoral record for Bihar. More than 47 lakh ineligible voters were struck from the electoral records following the SIR. There were 7.89 crore electors on the voter registry as of June 24. After the modification, 65 lakh voters who were deemed ineligible were eliminated, bringing the final number down to 7.24 crore in the August 1 draft list. 21.53 lakh eligible voters were added, and an additional 3.66 lakh ineligible voters were eliminated. This increased the final list’s total eligible voter count to 7.42 crore.

How to find out if your name appears on the final list of voters

Visit the NVSP, or National Voter Service Portal.
Go to the NVSP’s official webpage.
Make use of the “Electoral Roll Search” feature.
To search, enter your EPIC number or enter personal information such your name, father’s or husband’s name, and birthdate.

Additionally, you can use the official voter helpline mobile app or the website of your State Election Commission to confirm your name on the voter list.

If your name is not on the list, what should you do?

You can get in touch with your Booth Level Officer (BLO) personally if your name or other information is not on the voter list. Use Form-6 to add a new name, and Form-8 to update information that already exists. The District Election Officer (District Magistrate), who is in charge of the procedure at the district level, is another person you can speak with about issues or file complaints. Up until the formal election announcement is sent out, additions and corrections are welcome.
Dates of the Bihar elections

Next week, the Election Commission is anticipated to make the election schedule public. Poll authorities will visit Patna on October 4 and 5 to assess the state’s election readiness as part of the preparations. Individuals and political parties had until September 1 to submit “claims and objections” to the draft electoral rolls, which were first made public on August 1.

The first round of voting is expected to happen in late October, right after the Chhath festival. 470 poll monitors have reportedly been deployed by the Election Commission throughout Bihar, including for the impending assembly by-elections. The 243-member Bihar Legislative Assembly’s current term is scheduled to end on November 22. Three stages were included in the last assembly elections.
