Bihar : PM Modi to transfer ₹7,500 crore to 7.5 million women in Bihar on Sept 26, helping them grow businesses like pottery, nurseries, and rice farming.
The ambition of becoming an entrepreneur is now one step closer for millions of women in Bihar. Prime Minister Narendra Modi will deposit the first payment of Rs 10,000 into the bank accounts of 7.5 million women on September 26 as part of a new state program. A total of Rs 7,500 crore would be transferred in this first instance.

Together with her spouse, Manika Devi, Araria, operates a business selling rice, puffed rice, and other roasted grain treats. She intends to take use of the funding to grow her company to the state level.
Shobha Devi, Sikti: Having expertise in traditional pottery, Shobha intends to update her company by implementing new production techniques and technology, which will also generate employment opportunities for other women in her neighborhood.
Arwal, Uma Rani: Her nursery company is one way she contributes to environmental conservation. With the money from the program, she will be able to expand the nursery and create more jobs in her rural community.
About The Chief Minister’s Employment Program for Women
This program aims to empower women in Bihar by giving them the tools they need to become financially independent through self-employment.
Financial Assistance: A grant of Rs 10,000 is given initially under the program, with a second installment of up to Rs 200,000 being available later.
Encouragement of self-employment and financial empowerment for women are the main objectives.
The program is available to Bihar women who are members of a Jeevika Self-Help Group and want to launch their own company.
The application process is available online for women in urban areas and through their village organization for women in rural regions.
