P.T. Usha, the president of the Indian Olympic Association (IOA), and Harsh Sanghavi, the minister of sports for Gujarat, led the Indian squad.
The Gujarat government announced that a delegation from India had formally presented to the Evaluation Committee of Commonwealth Sport in London a proposal to host the 2030 Commonwealth Games in Ahmedabad.
During the presentation on Tuesday (September 23, 2025), the Indian team was led by P.T. Usha, the president of the Indian Olympic Association (IOA), and Harsh Sanghavi, the minister of sports for Gujarat.
According to a statement from the Gujarat government, India’s candidacy places Ahmedabad as the host city for the 2030 edition, which would honor the centennial of the Commonwealth Sport Movement.
According to the statement, Ahmedabad provides a small gaming footprint focused on venues of international caliber, reliable transit, and first-rate lodging.
“The plan strongly emphasizes affordability, inclusion, adaptability, and sustainability, all of which are in line with the Games Reset ideals. According to the announcement, it pledges to integrate parasport, uphold human rights, advance gender parity, and incorporate a long-term legacy system that guarantees advantages for athletes, communities, and the larger Commonwealth beyond the Games.
“It will be a proud milestone for Gujarat and India as a whole to host the Centenary Commonwealth Games in Ahmedabad. “We see these Games as a catalyst to strengthen the Commonwealth Movement for the next 100 years, inspire our youth, and accelerate our journey towards Viksit Bharat 2047,” Minister Sanghavi stated.
“India’s offer is based on values as much as competence. Usha was quoted in the announcement as saying, “Ahmedabad is ready to take up the mantle from Glasgow 2026 and act as a springboard to the 2034 Games, ensuring that the centenary edition honors the past while shaping the future of Commonwealth Sport.”
“The proposal demonstrates India’s goal to deliver Games that are compact, sustainable, inclusive, and globally impactful, with strong and coordinated support from the Center and Gujarat government, as well as the Commonwealth Games Association of India,” the statement stated.
