UP : A youth threw acid on a nurse from behind while she waited for an autorickshaw to reach her hospital job, then fled the scene, authorities reported.
Meerut: Authorities reported on Wednesday that a 38-year-old nurse had been hurt in what they described as an acid attack in the Lohia Nagar neighborhood of this city. Four police teams have been established to look into the situation.
Around 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, the mother of three was waiting for an autorickshaw to take her to the private hospital where she works when the event occurred. According to authorities, a young person who was perhaps a minor threw acid at her from behind before running away.
According to them, she was brought by onlookers to a nearby hospital after suffering injuries to her hands, after which she was referred to a medical college for more care.
“The City Superintendent of Police has deployed four teams,” stated Vipin Tada, Senior Superintendent of Police, Meerut. The case will be resolved shortly. Eyewitnesses are being questioned and CCTV footage from the area is being examined, police say.
The woman lives in Lohia Nagar, and according to the police, her husband works as a mason.
