Bihar Government approves 703 new bridges under Chief Minister’s Rural Bridge Scheme to connect rural and urban areas, costing Rs 3,688 crore.

For the current fiscal year 2025–2026, the Bihar government has authorized 703 new bridges under the Mukhyamantri Gramin Setu Yojana (Chief Minister Rural Bridge Scheme), a significant effort to improve rural infrastructure and link villages with cities.

These bridges, which would cost Rs 3,688 crore, have been in the planning stages since September 15. In rural regions where transportation is impeded by floods, monsoons, or deteriorating bridges, new and sturdy bridges will be constructed to provide smooth road connectivity.

Roads that are still unfinished because of missing bridges will also have bridges connecting them. The program also plans to rebuild bridges that have been destroyed by floods or other natural catastrophes.

In a number of areas, bridges have been built, and construction is about to start on the approach roads to make transportation easier for the locals. The East Champaran district will have the most bridge construction, with 56 planned.

Both the Chief Minister’s public statements and suggestions made during the Janata Ke Darbar Mein Mukhyamantri (Chief Minister at the People’s Court) program have been incorporated into this plan.
