CM sanctioned Rs 93 lakh for DNA testing to identify Dharali flood victims using Kedarnath model; Rs 13 crore for parks and Rs 100 crore for sewage upgrades granted.

Rs 93 lakh has been approved by CM Dhami for DNA testing in order to identify the people who perished in the Dharali tragedy. Many individuals are missing when floods in the Kheer Ganga ravaged Dharali. The construction of Devbhoomi Rajat Jayanti parks in 12 local bodies has been allowed for Rs 13 crore, and an additional Rs 100 crore has been granted to fortify the sewage networks in Haridwar and Rishikesh.

The victims of the current accident in Dharali, Uttarkashi district, will be identified via DNA sample testing and profile matching, in accordance with the methodology employed following the 2013 Kedarnath tragedy. Debris covered the settlement of Dharali after the catastrophe, which started on the Kheer Ganga road. As of as now, 67 people are still unaccounted for, and two bodies have been found.

While search efforts continue, the government has chosen to concentrate on identifying fatalities through DNA testing of body parts found in the wreckage. The Forensic Science Laboratory in Dehradun has been authorized by the CM Dhami to spend Rs 93 lakh on supplies, chemicals, and other equipment in order to support this endeavor.

Approved Funds for Urban Parks and Sewage

A separate project will strengthen the sewage systems in the cities of Rishikesh and Haridwar. The project is being funded by the German financial firm KfW, and the Chief Minister has authorized a plan to release Rs 100 crore for it in the current fiscal year.

The Chief Minister additionally authorized the allocation of Rs 13 crore for the establishment of “Devbhoomi Rajat Jayanti Parks” in 12 urban local bodies around the state.
