Patna: There are 243 seats in the Bihar Legislative Assembly, including the Hayaghat seat. It is the 84th Bihar Legislative Assembly constituency. In the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, Sunny Hazari of the Congress lost to Shambhavi Choudhary of the Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas) by a margin of 1,87,251 votes in the Hayaghat Lok Sabha seat.

In the 2020 Assembly Elections, 2,42,053 people cast ballots in the Hayaghat constituency, according to Election Commission data. In 2020, Ram Chandra Prasad, a BJP candidate, defeated Bhola Yadav, a candidate from the RJD, to win the seat. His vote total was 67,030. The vote total for Bhola Yadav was 56,778.
Third place went to JAPL candidate Abdus Salam Khan, who received 4,898 votes, or 3.42% of the vote.
The seat was won by JDU candidate Amar Nath Gami in the 2015 Bihar Assembly Elections. His vote total was 65,677. The LJP’s Ramesh Choudhary finished second with 32,446 votes. The margin of victory was 28.81%, or 33,231 votes.
